The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful One 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man. 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
