The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 He created man 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
