The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He hath created man. 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
