The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Taught the Quran. 2 He created man. 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
