The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created the human being 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon are scheduled. 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
