The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
