The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
