The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
