The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
