The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And shade extended 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
