The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
