The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Who will be honoured 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right. 38
