The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
