The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
