The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
