The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
