The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
