The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
