The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
