The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a host of the ancients 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
