The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
