The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
