The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
