The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
