The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
