The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
