The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right. 38
