The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
