The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
