The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
