The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
