The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
