The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
