The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
