The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
