The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right hand; 38
