The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and shade extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
