The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
