The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
