The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
