The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of delight; 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
