The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and upraised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
