The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
