The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
