The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
