The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And couches raised up. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
