The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
