The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
