The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
