The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and shade extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
